Misfitfoodie began because I was struggling to find what worked best for my happiness and my body. I realized that there are infinite ways I could choose to live my life, and that it was truly up to me to figure out how to live my best life. The food we eat, how creative we allow ourselves to be, and how much we move our bodies is imperative to our overall wellness.
We are all misfits. There is not one of us who seamlessly fits into perfect categories when it comes to personal wellness. We are all a complex mixture of personality, biology and environment. What I found was that I did not fit into any “one” category and that as I aged the needs of my body changed too. This lead me to understand that the only way for us to truly care for ourselves is to learn to tune in and listen.
The truth is that for most of us our body, mind and spirit are incredibly resilient and can take a great deal of battering. Without enough positive physical, mental and emotional fuel things begin to break down over time and dis-ease settles in. By adding in more good stuff we give our body and mind a strong foundation which supports it through times of stress or overindulging.
I have lived in many different places around the United States and traveled quite extensively around Europe and the Middle East. Currently I am an artist, mother, foodie, Reiki master living in Natick, MA. In 1997 I graduated from Skidmore College with a BS in Art Education. After graduating I moved to Austin, TX and worked as a production potter and then onto Amelia Island, FL where I worked professionally as a mural artist for 5 years. I moved to Boston in 2004 and was an art teacher for Boston Public Schools before having children and completing my Reiki Master training in 2012. In 2012 I co-founded and co-owned Palettes paint and wine studio in downtown Natick, which was sold to the new owners in June of this year.
I am thrilled to be working towards my certification as a Holistic Health Coach with the intention to provide others with inspiration and guidance to live happy, healthy, creative lives. I look forward to your comments and our interactions, and getting to know you better!
